『亀田縞復興プロジェクト』株式会社自遊人＋武蔵野美術大学
Concept
このプロジェクトは、「亀田縞」の復活を目指して、2014年にスタートしました。新潟市南部に位置する旧亀田町の伝統織物「亀田縞」は、農作業着として地元の人だけでなく全国で愛用され、約300年の歴史を数える伝統的な綿織物です。しかし暮らしの変化と、日本の織物産業の衰退とともに、その伝統は途絶えようとしています。「現代の暮らしに馴染む新しい“縞”」をコンセプトに産学共同で新たな「亀田縞」を開発。デザインされた2種類の新しい“縞”を、宿泊型複合施設「里山十帖」のリラックスウェアやベッドカバーに展開しました。
This project started in 2014 with the aim of reviving "Kameda-Jima". Kameda-Jima, a traditional fabric from the former town of Kameda, located in the southern part of Niigata City, is a traditional cotton fabric that has been used not only by the local people but also throughout Japan as farm work clothes, and has a history of about 300 years. However, with changes in lifestyle and the decline of the Japanese textile industry, the tradition is dying out. With the concept of "new "stripes" that fit in with modern life," a new "Kameda-Jima" was developed jointly by industry and academia. Two types of new "stripes" were designed and used as relaxing wear and bedspreads at the "Satoyama Jucho" lodging complex.
